Mason Mitchell finished fourth in the Atlas 150 at Iowa Speedway, driving the No. 23 SPS Chevrolet SS in front of his home crowd. The 2014 ARCA Menards Series champion was making his first start in the series since 2018.
The West Des Moines native ran in the top 10 on the seven-eighths-mile oval before working into the top five, including a move through three-wide traffic. He avoided incidents that eliminated several leading contenders and used the final 20 laps and restarts to contest fourth place.
Before the race, Mitchell spoke about the importance of racing in front of his hometown supporters.
There's nothing quite like racing in front of your hometown fans. Their support means everything, and I wanted to put on a good show for them.
