Kyle Busch wins Star Nursery 100 in Bullring return

Kyle Busch won the Star Nursery 100 in his first Bullring start since 2007, taking the lead from Derek Thorn on lap 65.

Archive record from the 2020 season, published Mar 5, 2020. Retained for the historical record; it does not describe the current 2026 programs.

Kyle Busch won the Star Nursery 100 at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, returning to victory lane at the three-eighths-mile track where he began his racing career.

The reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion qualified eighth and started sixth after a pill draw reset the Super Late Model lineup. He took the lead on lap 65 after battling four-time SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour champion Derek Thorn.

It was Busch’s first race at The Bullring since the 2007 Fall Classic. He had won two NASCAR Cup Series championships in the years between his appearances.

Busch and his crew worked to find speed after practice and qualifying before the late-race contest with Thorn.

Christian McGhee finished second, followed by Thorn, Tyler Fabozzi and Sammy Smith in a second Kyle Busch Motorsports entry.

It's been a long time since I've won here -- a really long time. I certainly want to give a shout out to the Rowdy Nation fans that are always there to support me, all the ones from The Bullring days back when I was a kid. My mom and dad and my wife and my son now -- my, how times have changed.

I worked my guys butts off these last few days -- it's a good thing I had a lot of Rowdy Energy to keep them going. Appreciate everyone at KBM, Rowdy Manufacturing, Toyota and TRD - our Rowdy Energy Camry was super-fast once we got into the second-half of the race tonight. Always enjoy battling with Derek Thorn -- he's the guy to beat out here on the west coast and I knew that if we were going to win tonight it was going to be him that we were battling. Hopefully we put on a good show for my hometown fans.
