Jake Walker brought the No. 23 SPS car to the finish at Portland despite engine trouble throughout his ARCA debut and first road course race with the team.
Walker worked with the crew and crew chief to diagnose the power loss and limit its effect. He used the tight corners to hold position where he could, providing feedback that helped the team keep the car running to the finish and collect points.
Team owner Joe Farré praised Walker’s qualifying performance and his approach to driving an unfamiliar car with an engine problem. SPS’s next stop is Sonoma Raceway the following weekend.
while this isn't the finish that we would have hoped for, more importantly, we gained valuable experience with a young driver that showed grit, discipline and talent throughout the weekend. His qualifying efforts were phenomenal, and we can't wait to see what Jake can do when we put him in a car with no ailments.
